Hello folks!
This is your travel guide for how to get from the Bay Area (SF or Oakland) to Fresno if you’re traveling for Smack in da Middle or Jack the Dish tournaments!
Most folks, even locals, will be taking the Amtrak from Oakland to Fresno. Why? Its easy, cheap and… most of us locals don’t have cars 😉
🥳 🚂 Take the train from (Oakland) Jack London Square Station —> Fresno
You have two departure time options on Friday, depending how early you want to get up or when you arrive in San Francisco. Both will be fun as long as you have the required snacks, drinks and friends along for the ride.
You’ll have about an 8 mile ride from the Fresno Train Station to the courts (don’t worry, its all flat) so take the earlier train or bring bike lights!

The train DOES have a cafe car with limited snacks, alcohol and other beverages, but if you want to grab some snacks and drinks (alcoholic or non), you can stop at the BevMo a few blocks away. There are also a number of food trucks around if you want to grab a breakfast burrito for the ride ;)
When your train arrives, the train attendees will most likely direct everyone with a bike to one of the cargo cars at the front or back to store the bikes. They will ask you what stop you’re getting off at, you can just let them know you’re getting off at Fresno.
Please follow their instructions and be respectful!
If you’re staying in San Francisco and not Oakland, you’ll need to hop on the Bart transit to get across the bay to the train station.
